ニ、after的譯法
1. 表示時間、空間、順序方面，譯為“在……之后”。如:
* Documents have to be presented within 14 days after the date of issuance of the bills of lading or other shipping documents.
提單或其他裝運單證自簽發(fā)日后14天內提交。
* The filter is located after the tuned circuit.
濾波器位于調諧電路之后。
2. 表示遵循、按照的意思，可以譯為“按照”、“依照”等。如：
* For maximum precision, we can make the thermal measurements after his suggestion.
為了獲得更高的精確度，我們可以依照他的建議進行熱測量。
3.“afterall +名詞”結構表示讓步，可譯為“盡管”、“雖然”等。如：
After all its merits, the alloy does not measure up to the requirements.
這種合金盡管有許多優(yōu)點，但還是不符合要求。
三、against的譯法
1. 表示方向、位置等方面的対抗與對應，以及兩個事物之間的相互作用。翻譯時沒有固定的譯法，應根據句子的意思及漢語的習慣表達方法靈活翻譯。如：
* No sooner were the pieces of charcoal rubbed against the glass rod than electricity appeared on the rod.
木炭屑同玻璃棒一摩擦，玻璃棒就帶電。
2. 表示反對或相反的意思，可譯為“不”、“違背”、“反對”等。如：
* Power amplifiers often use current drive against voltage drive.
功率放大器常用電流激勵，而不是用電壓激勵。
3. 表示防備的意思，可譯為“防止”、“以防”等，漢譯時要注意靈活處理譯文。如：
* It is necessary to prevent induction motors against overload and undervoltage.
必須保護感應電動機，防止過載和欠壓。
