并列連詞主要用來(lái)連接平行的詞、詞組或句子。英語(yǔ)中常用的并列連詞主要有簡(jiǎn)單并列連詞（and, besides，but, for，however，while，yet 等）及復(fù)合并列連詞（as well as， both...and, either...or等)。and可以表示平行、順接、轉(zhuǎn)折、讓步、對(duì)照、評(píng)注等。
1. 當(dāng)and連接句子內(nèi)的兩個(gè)對(duì)等的并列成分時(shí)，可以譯為“和”、“與”、“并”、“及” 或“以及”等，有時(shí)也可省譯。如：
* Shell type reamers sacrifice some rigidity and accuracy.
套式絞刀多少會(huì)降低剛度和精度。
* The pattern material melts and vaporizes as the metal is poured.
澆鑄金屬時(shí)，模料熔化并氣化。
* Electric light, electric heat and electric driving power can be produced without dirt or noise where they are needed, and can be quickly and easily controlled.
電力照明、電熱以及電動(dòng)力的供應(yīng)沒(méi)有灰塵和噪音，隨處都能使用，并且能迅速容易地控制。
* The size and the type of foundation depend on the nature of the ground and the load carried by it.
基礎(chǔ)的尺寸和類(lèi)型取決于地基的自然狀況以及地基所承受的荷載。?
2. 當(dāng)and連接的詞、短語(yǔ)或句子表示對(duì)比意義時(shí)，可譯為“而”，有時(shí)可以省譯。如：
* A collection of data is called a data set, and a single observation a data point.
一批數(shù)據(jù)叫數(shù)據(jù)集，（而）單個(gè)觀測(cè)結(jié)果叫數(shù)據(jù)點(diǎn)。
* The hydrocarbons containing up to four carbon atoms are usually gases, five to sixteen, liquids, and those containing seventeen or more are usually solids.
含有ー個(gè)到四個(gè)碳原子的碳?xì)浠衔镆话銥闅怏w，含有五個(gè)到十六個(gè)碳原子的碳?xì)浠衔餅橐后w，而含有十七個(gè)或更多的碳原子的碳?xì)浠衔锿ǔ楣腆w。
