3. 分詞作狀語的譯法
英語的分詞和分詞短語作狀語是分詞的主要用法之一。分詞作狀語主要用來修飾句子中的動(dòng)詞，可以表示時(shí)間、條件、原因、讓步、結(jié)果、方式和伴隨情況。
(1)分詞作時(shí)間狀語的譯法 分詞作狀語表示時(shí)間，在意義上相當(dāng)于時(shí)間狀語從句，因此可以譯為時(shí)間狀語從 句，漢譯時(shí)，可加譯“時(shí)”、“當(dāng)……時(shí)候”、“在……之后”、“后”等。如：
* Moving out from a source in uniform medium, a wave travels in straight lines.
當(dāng)波從均勻介質(zhì)中的波源移出時(shí)，呈直線傳播。
* Having obtained all these details, the central computer sends back to the driver via the buried electronic unit the best possible route.
中心計(jì)算機(jī)獲得所有這些詳情后，就能通過埋在道路下的電子裝置將最佳路線提供給駕駛?cè)藛T。
如果要強(qiáng)調(diào)分詞短語所表示的動(dòng)作與謂語動(dòng)詞所表示的動(dòng)作同時(shí)發(fā)生，分詞短語之前可用when或while等連詞。如：
* While carrying the instrument, don't touch anv parts but carrier bars and the bed.
當(dāng)搬運(yùn)這臺(tái)儀器時(shí)，除了搬運(yùn)桿和床座之外，其他零件都不要碰。
