(4)增譯動(dòng)詞
在原文的名詞或動(dòng)詞前后添加漢語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞。
例九：Diseases associated with atherosclerosis are an increasing problem in most part of the world.
【說(shuō)明】problem前增譯“成為”
【譯文】與動(dòng)脈粥樣硬化相關(guān)的疾病，在世界上大部分地區(qū)正越來(lái)越成為問(wèn)題。
例十：Obviously, cool temperature slows down the action of bacteria.
【說(shuō)明】slow down增譯為“使…減慢”。
【譯文】顯然，低溫可使細(xì)菌的活動(dòng)減慢。
3. 為表達(dá)原文語(yǔ)法概念而增譯
主要有下列幾種情況：
(1)增譯表示復(fù)數(shù)概念的同
例十一；The first electronic computers went into operation in 1946.
【說(shuō)明】the first增譯為“第一批”
【譯文】第一批電子計(jì)算機(jī)于1946年開(kāi)始使用。
例十二： When the muscles contract, the bones acting as lever produce movement.
【說(shuō)明】the bones增譯為“各個(gè)骨頭”。
【譯文】肌肉收縮時(shí)，起杠桿作用的各個(gè)骨頭就產(chǎn)生了運(yùn)動(dòng)。
(2) 增譯連詞
翻譯時(shí)要注意上下文的連貫性，有時(shí)有必要依據(jù)原文的邏輯關(guān)系添加連詞。
例十三：In connection with the use of disinfectants it should be stated that their potency is a greatly increased by raising the temperature.
【說(shuō)明】增譯“如果…就…”
【譯文】使用消毒劑時(shí)，如果增加其溫度，就會(huì)極大地提高其效能。
例十四： Although the importance of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and minerals has been widely recognized, man cannot live upon a mixture of these alone.
【說(shuō)明】增譯“…，但是…”
【譯文】雖然蛋白質(zhì)、碳水化合物，脂肪以及礦物質(zhì)的重要性已為人們所公認(rèn)，但是人卻不能僅僅以此為生。
4. 為符合漢語(yǔ)語(yǔ)法修辭要求而增譯
英、漢兩種語(yǔ)在語(yǔ)法和修辭方面存在差異，通過(guò)增譯某些部分，可使譯文更通順。
