1. while作并列連詞的譯法
連接并列句，可表示對(duì)比也可表示遞進(jìn)。表示對(duì)比時(shí)相當(dāng)于whereas，譯為“而”、“可是”等。表示遞進(jìn)時(shí)相當(dāng)于and what is more，譯為“并且”、“而且”。如：
* Unfortunately, ground level ozone is increasing while stratospheric ozone decreases.
令人遺憾的是，地面臭氧在增加，而同溫層奧氣卻日漸減少。
* Some display terminals only use a few hundred rows with a few hundred pixels per row, while the more expensive display screen can use over a thousand rows with over a thousand pixels per row.
一些顯示終端僅用幾百行（每行具有幾百個(gè)像素），而更昂貴的顯示屏幕可超過 1,000行（毎行超過1,000個(gè)像素）。
* The new man-made fibers are more hardwearing than natural fibers and greatly reduce mending, while good ready-made clothes are cheap and plentiful.
新的人造纖維比天然纖維耐磨，因此能大大減少修補(bǔ)工作，而且做好的衣服價(jià)廉物美，數(shù)量也多。?
* Waves are all of the same length, while they are in step.
所有波的波長(zhǎng)都相同，而且同歩。
2. while作從屬連接詞的譯法
除了可以做并列連詞外，while還可以作從屬連接詞，引導(dǎo)表示時(shí)間、讓步、條件和原因的狀語從句。
