5. 用“as +形容詞/副詞+ again + as”表示同一水平上的比較，again指凈增加一倍，例如：
a. The number of our staff is as great again as that of yours.
我們的職工人數(shù)比你們多一倍。(是你們的兩倍）
b. He can write as fast again as she does.
他書寫的速度比她快一倍。(是她的兩倍）
此外，還有其他表示增減的方式，最常用的是在所增長數(shù)字的前面或后面加up，或在前面加上a rise of, an increase of等; 在減少數(shù)字的前面或后面加上down，或在前面加上a fall of, a dip of, a drop of等。請(qǐng)看以下例子（譯文略）：
a. The 100-share National Index closed at a provisional 1,802.15 points, down 15,89. (down 在數(shù)字的前面）
b. Platinum futures ranged from one to 18 yen per gram firmer. Benchmark December closed 14 up at 1,325.(up在數(shù)字的后面）
c. The U. S. dollar traded at 101. 13 yen, up 0.20 yen from 100.93 yen late on Thursday. ( up 在數(shù)字的前面）
