在科技英語中，充當(dāng)主語的動(dòng)作性名詞連同其修飾語有時(shí)可能包含有較多的信息，而充當(dāng)謂語的動(dòng)詞往往意義比較空泛。這時(shí)如將作主語的動(dòng)作性名詞譯成謂語，?？墒棺g文重點(diǎn)突出，更加符合漢語的表達(dá)習(xí)慣，取得良好的效果。舉幾種情況敘述如下。

1. 在原文句子中,主語是動(dòng)作性名詞,謂語是do,give,make, carry(out),realize,perform,effect等動(dòng)詞時(shí),可將主語譯為謂語,謂語動(dòng)詞省譯。如：

1) A displacement of the drum support to the right is carried out by the draw plate and the screw.

利用拉板和螺釘使鼓輪支架向右位移。（省譯謂語is carried out）

2) Measurement of the adjusted voltage is performed by the meter（4）.

用儀表（4）測(cè)量調(diào)節(jié)好的電壓。（省譯謂語is performed）

3) Special care shall be given for the arrangements and easy access to stored parts.

應(yīng)當(dāng)特別注意存儲(chǔ)零件的排列和拿取方便。（省譯謂語shall be given)

4) After correct arrangement of the box girders respective to the filter housing and/or the longitudinal wall upper parts and supporting

structure, the complete welding of the bracings, distribution girders and box girders to each other and to the longitudinal wall upper part is

effected.

在各個(gè)箱形梁相對(duì)于收塵器外殼和（或）縱向壁上部部件以及支承結(jié)構(gòu)安排合適之后，可以把撐桿、分配梁和箱形梁相互之間配套焊好，再焊接到縱向壁上部部件上。（省譯謂語is effected）

2. 在原文句子中，主語是動(dòng)作性名詞，謂語是系詞be和某些形容詞（如possible,automatic,necessary,accessible等）時(shí),可將此主語轉(zhuǎn)譯成謂語。例如：

1)Compensation of the line resistance is possible.

線路電阻能夠樸償。

2) An alternation of the usual environmental living condition is necessary for obtaining desynchronization.

為了獲得同步破壞，必須更換通常的生活環(huán)境。

3) Control and timing adjustments are easily accessible on these replaceable modules.

對(duì)于這些可更換的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)件，可以很方便地控制和定時(shí)調(diào)節(jié)。

3. 科技資料中，由于版面限制等原因，不用句子只用短語敘述一個(gè)完整意思的情況經(jīng)常遇到，特別是在表格和圖紙上出現(xiàn)得更多。在這種情況下，可以把短語譯成無主語的句子，動(dòng)作性名詞轉(zhuǎn)譯為句中的謂語。例如：

Rev. D: 18/02/81 —Change of denomination of cells.

                          —Addition of type of LV terminals.

                          —Correction of type of CT's.

修改版D：81，2，18一改變了元件的名稱。

                              一增加了低壓端子的類型。

                              —訂正了電流互感器的型號(hào)。
