1.方劑 通譯為prescription，也有人譯作recipe，還有人譯作formula，但都不如prescription流行。從約定俗成的角度來看，Prescription業(yè)已成為“方劑”的對應語。
這里附帶說明一下“方劑學”的翻譯，目前有人將其譯作theory of prescriptions ,或 science of prescriptions 還有其它一些譯法。實際上，“方劑學”譯作prescriptionology是最好不過的。pre scriptionology直接源于 prescription，而且與英語中的“學”（如 “生物學” biology, “生理學” physiology等等)的表述法一致。
與“方劑”有關(guān)的術(shù)語的譯法如下：
大方 grandiose prescriptions
小方 minor prescriptions
緩方 mild prescriptions
急方 urgent prescriptions
奇方 odd-numbered prescriptions
偶方 even-numbered prescriptions
復方 composite prescriptions
輕方 light prescriptions
單方 simple prescriptions
經(jīng)方 classical prescriptions
時方 no nc lass ic a 1 prescriptions
宣劑 dispersing prescriptions
泄劑 purgative prescriptions
重劑 heavy prescriptions
滑劑 lubricating prescriptions
補劑 tonic prescriptions
澀劑 astringent prescriptions
燥劑 dry prescriptions
濕劑 moistening prescriptions
寒劑 cold prescriptions
熱劑 heat prescriptions
升劑 ascending prescriptions
降劑 descending prescriptions
2.配伍 即根據(jù)病情需要，按照中醫(yī)理法原則來組合藥物常譯作 composition of prescription 或 composing a prescription。 但在其它一些情況下，“配伍”則需譯作compatibility，如“配伍禁忌”就應譯作contraindication of compatibility,而不宜譯作contraindication of the composition of prescription。
3. 十八反 指十八種性能相反的藥物，常見的譯法有：
antagonism among the eighteen medicinal herbs
eighteen incompatible medicaments
eighteen incompatibilities
相比較而言，eighteen incompatibilities顯然優(yōu)于另外二種譯法。incompatibility即不能配伍，不能同用，與“反”的意思完全一樣。
