這是用“是”、“成為”、“變?yōu)椤薄ⅰ白兂伞币活愒~把本體和喻體連接起來的比喻方法，通常的句式為：“甲是乙”。英語中多用to be, to become, to turn into, to change to / into 等動詞表示。和明喻一樣，翻譯時大都需要引申原意才能符合漢語習慣，例如：
a. In the global economy，knowledge is king.
在世界經(jīng)濟中，知識至上。（不能譯成“……知識為王?！保?/p>
b. Yet political attention is riveted on U.S.-Japanese trade. It is said that our bilateral deficit with Japan stubbornly refuses to shrink because their markets are closed. Is it true? The Japanese are surely no angels.

然而政界的注意力卻緊町住美日貿(mào)易。據(jù)說我們與日本的雙邊貿(mào)易逆差很難縮小，是由于日本緊閉其 國內(nèi)市場的結(jié)果，果真如此嗎？日本人絕非天使（決不是心懷善意的）。
